Every match promises a thrilling one-on-one battle in which strategy, skill, and a touch of luck determine who survives the arena. With tactical duels supported by strong campaign gameplay, Blood on the Sands brings the dynamic and deadly world of gladiatorial combat to life!
In Blood on the Sands, you don the mantle of a lanista, the master of a gladiator school known as a ludus. Recruit, train, and manage a stable of unique gladiators, each with their own backgrounds and trains, strengths and weaknesses, and distinctive fighting styles.
In between matches, you will be faced with strategic decision-making outside the arena, shepherding your stable to greatness. As they progress from novice to veteran, these warriors live only for the roar of the crowd and the promise of victory in the arena. But in the world of the gladiator, fame is fleeting, and the arenas of the Empire are littered with the fallen. Will you guide your fighters to glory, or will they fall, forgotten, like blood on the sands...
Funded in ten hours on Kickstarter earlier this year, gamers who missed the campaign now have the chance to get in on the first release of this historically-inspired new game, full of cunning strategy, dynamic combat, and engaging narrative play. Blood on the Sandswill be published by Dead Again Games, a collaborative project of Frank Sultana and N.R. Jenzen-Jones. Frank has been an avid wargamer for some forty years, and has spent the past ten or so working on Blood on the Sands. Nic is an arms historian and publisher who has managed more than a dozen successful Kickstarter campaigns. Both men are avid gamers with interests spanning everything from gamebooks and card games, through to board games, tabletop skirmish games, and large-scale wargames.
Blood on the Sands features detailed original artworks by Australian artist Mitchell Nolte. The beautiful design of the components and the layout of the rule book is thanks to Justin Baird, a Canadian graphic designer and arms historian.

Each core boxed set of Blood on the Sands contains everything two players need to step into the arena! This includes detailed, multi-part hard plastic miniatures produced by Wargames Atlantic. For those looking to enhance their gladiatorial combat experience even further, we are delighted to offer additional boxes of finely detailed gladiator miniatures and 3D-printable obstacles from Wargames Atlantic, as well as a beautiful laser-cut MDF Roman arena and playing board from Sarissa Precision.
In addition to the detailed miniatures from Wargames Atlantic, Blood on the Sands will be produced with high-quality components made by a specialist games manufacturer. From Gladiator Boards which are recessed to accept fatigue and wound markers, to alternately coloured custom dice, we want your Blood on the Sands gameplay experience to feel special. We will enhance this even further as we unlock our exciting stretch goals!

We are aiming to take delivery of the games no later than March 2026, although we will of course ship products earlier if possible. Our latest foreseeable delivery date is September 2026.

Pre-order customers will only be charged for the game itself at the time of pre-order, and will be charged for shipping through a third-party fulfillment support site closer to the ship date to ensure that the fees charged reflect the actual cost of shipping & handling at that time.
